Nonstop Radiator Noise
We have baseboard heaters in our co-op, and over the past few weeks the usual ticking and mild pipe noise has increased to non-stop, full-blown, wake-the-dead banging. We bled our radiator and there was no air in our unit (just a small stream of water), but there are 8 other units in this building. Does anyone know why the system would suddenly become dramatically noisier than before and if there’s anything we can do? I know some noise is normal, but this is crazy. Thanks!
Brokers revealing competing offer amounts?
Does anyone know if it’s legal for a real estate broker to reveal the amounts of competing offers in a bidding process? I know it’s ok to say things like “there are two offers higher than yours” but can they actually state the dollar figures other bidders have offered? It seems fairly unethical considering that there’s no way to verify if those offers are real, and there’s a direct financial incentive to get the sales price as high as possible. I know it’s common practice but is it legal? Thanks!
Appliance Installation
Can anyone recommend someone to uninstall old appliances and install a new dishwasher, microwave and range? All the hookups are in place. We bought from PC Richard but their installation people have failed to show up for three appointments and we’re not trying for a 4th. We’re in Park Slope. Thanks!
Sanding Doors?
Hoping for some advice from the wood-savvy among you… We are doing some minor improvements to a co-op we’re buying. The bathroom and two bedrooms all have solid wood doors (stained) that are in great shape. However, we are sanding and staining the floors and once we do, the doors will be a completely different color and I expect it will look odd. Do you think it’s reasonable to imagine that the folks who are doing the floors could take a hand sander to the doors while they’re at it? We’d probably paint the doors rather than re- staining them. Thanks!
Recos for Small Bathroom Reno
Looking for recommendations related to a small bathroom renovation. We plan to rip out tile on floor and in shower (no tile on walls) and replace it, as well as replacing the toilet. No electrical, no moving plumbing, walls, etc. We’d love recos if you’ve done something similar and worked with a crew who did good work at a reasonable rate. Thanks!
Recycling Marble Bathroom Tile?
We are planning a renovation of a small bathroom– replacing tile, vanity, etc. The current tile is 12 X 12 carrera marble, but it’s not good quality and looks dingy so we’re replacing it. Does anyone know of a second use for these tiles? Can I donate them or recycle them? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!
