Need Advice – Cracked Marble Countertop


Hi,
A large corner of our marble bathroom countertop has broken off, and I’m looking for someone who can re-attach the broken piece, add some filling, and re-sand. Does anyone know someone I could call for this kind of job? I’m really hoping that I don’t have to replace the entire countertop. I’ve had my handyman take a look, but it’s not something he can do.
Any advice would be great!

Sod Installation


I’ve read a few posts recommending Shannon’s Nursery for installing new sod. I was just curious to know approximately what it cost to purchase the sod and have them put it in. I’m looking to re-sod our backyard which is 15 X 20. I’ll definitely give them a call, but was just curious to know what others spent to have their yard done.

Need Help! Basement Leak


We live in a duplex condo, and over the weekend we had flooding in our basement rec room. It was wall to wall carpet, which got completely soaked through. We had it removed today, and from what we can tell water is coming up from underneath the tile laid below the carpet. I’m assuming there are cracks in the concrete but we really need to get an expert to come in and evaluate where the water is coming from. I don’t even know where to start. Can anyone recommend someone? Also – once the carpet was removed there is a large amount of yellow carpet glue and leftover carpet padding where it was glued to the tiles. Has anyone had any luck removing this glue, or could recommend someone to come and do it for us?

Backyard Reno – Need Advice!


We have a 400 square feet area of concrete in our backyard that we are looking to cover. We recently got a quote for wood decking, but are curious to know about other options (ie. brick, stone, etc.). Can anyone recommend some other materials that might work, as well as contractors they’ve worked with? We would prefer not to remove the concrete, but simply cover it.

Need Advice Plantation Shutters


I’m looking to install plantation shutters in our new condo. I like the ones by Hunter Douglas, although they are a bit pricey. Can anyone recommend a good retailer/manufacturer, as well as someone who can measure & install? I prefer the solid wood shutters, although the new hybrid ones by Hunter aren’t too bad. Any advice would be great!

Advice on Wood Decking Tiles


I’m interested in covering an outdoor concrete patio with those wood snap-in decking tiles. Does anyone have any experience using them? There seem to be a lot of companies out there offering a variety of prices, style & wood types.

Advice on Moving to Greenwood?


My family and I are considering moving to Greenwood (21st street) from Cobble Hill. We love our current neighborhood, but are desperate for more space for our growing family. Can anyone tell me about their experience living there, if it is safe, a good area for kids, and if there is a good community for families?
