Cambridge Place Shingle House?
RE: In Clinton Hill, the one that was house of the day a week or so ago (for $1,775mill): the listing has disappeared, does anyone know if it sold that quickly? Curious given the consensus (or griping!) that it was overpriced….
Sidewalk Repair
Does anyone have an estimated cost for replacing a sidewalk in front of a brownstone? (we have to replace basically all the bluestone in front, a typical 20′ wide bldg). We got one estimate and it seemed really high. Also, anybody whose done this work have reccs for a contractor whose reasonable and does good quality work? Thanks!
Landmarks and Cornice Repair?
Hi, We need to repair our cornice on our brownstone, which will entail repainting it. Our desire is to paint it to the original black (we believe this is the appropriately historical color). Do we need to get Landmarks approval for either or both of these scenarios? a) repair and repaint it, in the current color or b) repair and repaint it black. Advice from anyone knowledgeable on Landmarks and cornice repair, or from someone having done a similar repair is appreciated.
Curb Cuts Still Legal?
On the subject of curb cuts, I was wondering if curb cuts in front of what used to be driveways/garages, but now have been converted (i.e. Carriage houses, where the garages are no longer used and they clearly have just a doorway), are still legal? There are all of these houses in my neighborhood who post “NO PARKING” signs in front of their inactive curb cuts (basically reserving a private parking space for themselves, or a clear view or whatever). It’s a major pet peeve, as it’s hard for everyone to find parking and they just take away more spaces. Is there anything to do about this? During the recent snowstorms, this was even more of an issue….
