I want to cover a portion of my concrete patio back yard with a floating wooden deck/platform. it would be unattached from any structure and only a few inches above grade. I cannot seem to find if such a floating structure allows me to LEGALLY avoid the plans/permitting process with the City. Does anyone have direct knowledge on this topic? I have scoured the building codes but cannot find anything too relevant. the DOB “Decks/Patios” brochure is also completely lacking in detail.
