Repair of Roman Shades
Does anyone know who someone who fixes fancy window treatments that have gone awry? Prior owner must have spent big bucks on roman shades and now they don’t work. One needs new cord and needs to be restrung (if that is the right word); other has broken cord (those metal things like fat light chains). Suggestions greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Dean Street No-Through?
I tried to drive home today from Park Slope to Prospect Heights via Dean Street (now that 5th Avenue is closed permanently as a thru street), only to find that signs have been posted at Flatbush requiring a turn either left or right. I had to turn on Flatbush Avenue. This is not one of the changes posted on the DOT website. Anyone have any information about this?
Custom Wood Bookcases
Can anyone recommend a fine carpenter who could build me a wall of bookshelves with cabinets below? I’m moving mid-December and need them for the new apartment.
Thanks,

Buying into Newswalk?
I’m thinking of bidding on an apartment in Newswalk. Everyone I’ve spoken to who lives there seems to like it notwithstanding issues re leaks, HVAC and rising common charges. So am I crazy to buy in now?
Minimal kitchen alterations
I’m looking to add additional cabinets and replace countertops in a kitchen. I need a contractor who can a) match existing cabinetry and b) install corian. I would love suggestions and phone numbers for who to use… I’m off to Ikea this a.m. for comparison.
