Alarm options


Hi All — We’re trying to find out about alarm systems for our house. We’ve gotten one quote for a wireless system and one for a hard-wired system. The hard-wired is more expensive, it seems.

Does anyone have any info about which is a better way to go & why? And also, if anyone had a suggestion of a good company to work with, that would be great!

salvaged wood


We have maybe 150 sq ft of 80-100 year old tongue & groove planks that are coming out of our house. The planks are about 10″ wide and range in length from 3 – 8 feet. They are likely oak, and have most recently been used as a wall, so they are painted and have been nailed. But if stripped & cleaned, I am certain they would make great wood for some kind of furniture, wainscotting, or flooring. Our contractor wants to just dump it all, but I’d like to see it get used somewhere.
