Outdoor Trash Containers
Our timber trash/recycling storage containers in the front of our brownstone in henry st BH are due for replacement with pieces falling off etc.
I’ve seen this model called MetroBox.biz in hicks st and although they dont have a company phone number listed, tracked down the person who is the private importer of these (available in august) unfortunately at $1200 each (we would need 2) more than i want to really spend.
I’ve seen some rubbermain ones befre but would really prefer not to go that route.
Any suggestions on alternatives?

Timber Fence Cost?
Anyone want to throw out a guestimation on the cost of 42′ of timber fencing?
We need to replace one side of our backyard 42′ in length?
Anyone want to ballpark it based on 6′ palings etc? – btw is it too late to get it replaced now? eg ground too hard?
BOA wants proprietary lease extension?
Huh?
I am in the middle of refinancing our co-op into a 30 year fixed with Citi, i saw someone post here last week about super low rates with BOA (about 0.2 lower than what citi approved with us) so thought i’d see how quickly BOA could get us approved.
Seeing we had all the docs in place and approved for Citi didn’t think it was going to be that much effort but now BOA have come back saying they are going to turn us down unless we provide a written agreement for the extension of our co-ops proprietary lease which is going to expire in December ……2034?????
wtf?
Are these BOA guys and girls smoking crack?
Would it even be possible as a co-op to extend a proprietary lease that isn’t due for rolling over for another 24 years??
just to be clear this is not an underlying building mortgage, it’s just for one of the apartments in the co-op?
What gives?
Bluestone Costs?
Just got a quote from Brownstone Authority for somebluestone work in our front courtyard.
2 sections, 12ft x 18ft and 12ft x 4ft plus enlarging a tree pit.
$7000
-ouch. lol i have to admit i had no idea on the cost, but at that price this job just aint going to get done.
Yes it included demolition of a garbage bin and removal of existing pavers etc but seriously $7k for 2 days work???
NY contractors are out of whack. (or am i missing something and its the cost of the material etc?)
Cantilever Deck
We live on the 4th floor of a brownstone where in the rear a small deck is located over the ceiling of the 3rd floor.
It runs the width of the building and extends about 8 feet “in” from the rear wall(eg our apartment is smaller than the rest).
My question is simply this, i imagine it would be technically quite easy to extend the deck an extra 4 feet out “past” the rear wall.
This would mean the deck is now 8 feet deep from our window to the rear wall and an additional 4 feet extending “over the air”.
As long as other co-op owners in our building dont have an issue with this do you think there are any technical or city DOB reasons why this wouldn’t be allowed.
Water Meter for Fire Sprinkler?
we just had a DEP water inspection this week (something screwy is going on with our water bills – way to high).
Anyway long story short they have cited us and sent us a notice asking us to have a water meter conected to the fire sprinkler?
Is this for real?
Does this mean we are going to be sent a second bill (with a minimum amount each month) just for having the fire spriners connected to the water mains in our brownstone that so far in the 80 years the house has been here hasn’t had a fire?
