Does anyone have recommendations or warnings about “portable” washer-dryer combos — the kind you hook to your kitchen sink faucet? Looking for brand and type information. Thanks.

Landlords — Assuming tenants who are good, respectful, pay their rent on time, etc. etc., would you rather have renters who stay many years, say 10 to 20, or would you prefer some moderate turnover?

condos/rentals


I would like insights or details into new-construction condos that have not sold, and become rentals. Is there a risk that a renter’s lease will not be renewed if the market improves and condos start selling? …or is there protection against this?

Anyone have any experience with the rent-to-own options I’ve seen around?

1103 Cortelyou — any specific experience with this building, as an owner or renter?

current rents in PS, WT


Rents are dropping Brooklyn, according to all indications. So what can my family expect to pay –we want to rent, not buy –when we return to the beloved borough after a self-imposed exile in the ‘burbs? We need two bedrooms in a pet-friendly building in Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, South Slope. We lived in Prospect Heights for years and know these areas well.

We’ve been monitoring craigslist and the NYT Web pages. How realistic and complete a picture of rents do they present?

We should be, if I do say so myself, ideal tenants: two people well over 40 with very good, long-standing jobs, good credit, easy-going, friendly, helpful, non-smoking –plus our elementary-school daughter, plus dogs. Our dogs (and our daughter!) are good, trained, funny, sweet, gentle, etc. We want to pay less than $2000 — possible?
