We received a letter from the HRA – does anyone know about this and have used their services? We are in major need for a reno and it would be great if we can get the support they say they provide. thanks!

Junk / Appliance Removal


Hi, we are preparing to move in and need to remove all the appliances so that we can start cleaning and preparing for reno / demo. Can anyone suggest on a service crew, and general estimate for the job?

JOB:
Remove:
- garden floor : fridge, washer / dryer, stove
- 3nd floor: fridge, stove
- 4rd floor: fridge, stove

Clean-up service
- 1 floor total clean-up.
- 3 floors clean and sweep.

I’ve heard so far quotes around 500+tax for the appliance removal.

walking away from contract


Is it possible for us to walk away from our contract and get the 10% deposit back in case we are 30 days delayed from our initial closing date and the tenants are still there so our closing date is further delayed?
We heard that both seller and the buyer (us) has to mutually agree in order to get our deposit back, but what if the seller is dragging out the closing date for unknown amount of time?

Seller Still Has the Tenant 4 Days Before Closing Date!


We are 4 days away from our closing date, and found out that the seller has done nothing to get their tenant out of the home. We dont know why, but the seller’s agent told us that we should evict the tenants. Obviously the eviction is the seller’s responsibility and we will not close until the home is vacant, as noted in our contract. Can someone help us on what we should mentally prepare for?

Home Insurance for Brownstone in Renovation


We are in the process of closing on a brownstone in need of renovation, and looking for a home insurance who will cover our home. We talked to Amica, and they said they would need an engineer’s report, and might have their own people come out to evaluate, but even with that- still not cover due to the high replacement cost…
Does anyone have suggestions on a insurance company they’ve used as they purchased a brownstone in need of a reno?
