Fantastic A/V & Home Theater Shop

Just wanted to say that Eddie Rivera and his crew from Home Media Bliss are top-notch!!! I interviewed a number of people for a home theater / network setup, and Home Media Bliss found things and had suggestions and solutions that their competitors overlooked. Eddie put together a top-notch system — hdtv, multizone sonos, game system, speakers, and a killer remote to control it all — within our budget. He also worked his magic and was able to find fixes when some unforeseen construction work created some obstacles that we had not anticipated.

He doesn’t push projects or systems, offers a variety of alternatives, has a very nice eye for detail, and has a great attitude.

I would definitely recommend Home Media to anyone and everyone. They are thoroughly professional and a pleasure to work with!

High Praise for Martin Barazorda of Inti Interior Finish!!!

After much searching, we hired Martin for a renovation of our apartment. The place had been gut-renovated a few years back, but we wanted to make some non-structural changes. Martin was fantastic and I highly recommend him.

His work included replacing carpeting with BEAUTIFUL hardwood floors that he custom stained; removing crown molding (the job entailed an extension of the ceiling to cover the gap where the molding was, and Martin executed this perfectly); relocating ceiling light fixtures; revealing and refinishing original structural beams; installing ceiling fans; wiring for new kitchen cabinet and island lighting, removing and seamlessly covering unwanted electrical outlets; replacing showerheads; installing a chandelier and hanging light fixtures (perfectly aligned), and a host of other projects.

Martin did his work with a professionalism and care that is rarely found in this industry. He has a great eye for detail (one more than one occasion, he provided very helpful design input), takes pride in his work, and kept the apartment very clean. On top of all this, he is an extraordinarily nice person who is warm, friendly, and easy to work with. Finally, his rates are very reasonable (believe me, we received quotes from a number of people). Never once did we feel like we were being overcharged — not even close.

His number is 347-234-3597. His website (the pictures are good but his work is even more beautiful in person) is www.intiinteriorfinish.com

If you are considering using Martin or would like more info, I am more than happy to talk to you. Just email me at calle3441@hotmail.com.

Great Electrician

Just wanted to share my experience with Alex from DLC (973-617-6943). We used him for a variety of projects, icluding the installation of a ceiling fan, new wiring for kitchen island lights, moving several electrical outlets and switches, and wiring for undercabinet lights.

He was excellent. He works quickly and cleanly and did a fantastic job. We will definitely use him again!

Electrical Detective

We just found out that our neighboring condo unit’s furnace is connected to our electrical box. This discovery has raised concerns that the electrician who did work on both our units has messed up in other areas as well.
Any recommendations of a top-notch electrician who can take a look at both our places and tell what, if anything, else is wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Very Good Plumber

We used Fabian Barazorda (347-234-3818) for some miscellaneous plumbing work. He was fantastic! He was more than willing to accommodate our schedule (including last minute changes), and did great work. On top of all of this, he is super pleasant to be around.

He is the brother of Martin from Inti Interior Finish, which has been mentioned on here before.

If we ever need more plumbing work, we will definitely call Fabian again.

Major Problems with Rumba Air

Based on recommendations here we called up Fred with Rumba Air to do a small minspilt/ductless installation. Initially, he was fantastic — very professional and seemed very fair. He also drew up some very detailed plans. BUT, when the time came for the project, he increased the price by over 30%. When I (gently) pointed this out to him and asked if there was something I was missing, he became VERY belligerent. He also gave a series of confused and improbable explanations for the increase (for instance, he cited the increase in the cost of copper. But the project only entailed about 15 feet of copper tubing). In the end, we went our seperate ways.

I can HIGHLY recommend the guy we found to replace Freed — Chris Cosentino. He is very knowledgeable, charged a better price than Fred, and has a great personality — laid back but with a great attention to detail. His contact info: mastersmindhvac@gmail.com

Permit needed for 24,000 btu Condenser

WE want to place a 24,000 btu (i.e. 2-ton) condenser on an outside wall of our condo. Assuming the condo board has no problem, do I need a permit from the city?

My understanding is that if it is below 3-tons, no permit is needed.

The condenser will be mounted 4 feet above the ground against a wall that is completely within our backyard space.

Many thanks!

Fuse Box Question

I recently found this in the fuse box of a condo we are purchasing. It looks like the line on the left side was overloaded at one point.

I know basically nothing about electricity. So, any suggestions on next steps (if any) would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks!

LG “Art Cool” Ductless Mini-split HVAC

We will be installing a ductless for a large, open loft space (about 1000 square feet) and, all things being equal, would prefer to go with a more stylish unit. But, if this involves a sacrifice on quality, we’ll go with the ugly stuff. Does anyone have any experience with these LG units? The air comes out of the sides through a small opening in the front.

Thanks!
