We have a three-story fully attached home, purchased in 2006. The top floor is a rental unit. There’s only one thermostat, and it’s in our living room on the main floor. The upstairs tenants are always cold, since it’s hard to cool it off enough on our floor – due to cooking, more activity in general, etc. – to keep the heat on so the upstairs warms up adequately, especially in the evening. Has anyone come up with a good solution to this, short of turning the thermostat up to 80 and keeping all the windows open?
