Electrical Must be Grounded?
Our recent home renovation did not pass the electrical inspection due to several outlets in the house not being grounded. Contractor says this is a brand new rule from the city and he shouldn’t have to pay for the additional work to pass inspection. Does anyone know if this is indeed a new requirement in the past 4 months? We are very surprised that our contractor is balking at doing the additional work to ensure the job is done to code. We are hitting an impasse with him and I was wondering if anyone here has any advice or knows anything about electrical who can tell me if what he is saying is b.s. or not…
Advice? Visit from Tax Assessor
Earlier this week a man from the City Finance Dept knocked on my door, showed me his badge and said he was a Tax Assessor. Without asking me if I had time to chat (I didn’t), he started asking me tons of questions about our recent renovation including details about what kind of work we did, how much it cost us, etc. I need to call him back today, but I’m wondering how much information I need to give this guy. Doesn’t the DOB have our blueprints already so Finance can just look up the type of work we did? How cooperative am I required to be, and how detailed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I haven’t been through this process before. Thanks!
where to find old photos of your house?
Hi,
Is there a resource in the city for finding old exterior photos of your home? We are buying a house that has been altered and would like to know how it looked before the changes a previous owner made. Any ideas?
