OUR GARDENER DISAPPEARED
hello. we had a wonderful gardener last year who planted our large prospect heights garden–but she seems to have disappeared! so we’re looking for someone who can do some re-planting and put in some new plants and ground cover. (nothing structural: that’s all done.) any recommendations? thank you!

New Water Meters–and CRAZY Bill
hello all. new ‘automatic’ water meters were installed in our neighborhood (prospect heights). we just got our first bill, and it is crazy: five times our normal bill!
something is wrong here. . . anyone else have this problem?

Windows in Landmarked Area?
what are the rules regarding replacing windows in a landmarked area?
we’ve been told two different things:
**that that the windows need to conform to the pix taken in the 1940s(!) for tax purposes;
OR:
**that you can replace what you already have (i.e. if you have aluminum now, you don’t need to go to wood if you replace the windows).
both of these can’t be right. which is correct?

hello. we need someone to do simple maintenance work on our garden, i.e. weeding, either weekly or bi-monthly. any recommendations for someone who is dependable, competent, and reasonably priced? thank you.

hello. we need a couple of bookcases built–nothing fancy, but the dimensions are irregular (hence no ikea, etc.). anyone know of a good carpenter who can do this for a reasonable price? thank you.

Screens for French Doors to Garden?
Hello. we have big french doors that open out from our kitchen onto our garden: very nice. but if I leave them open while cooking, I am eaten by mosquitoes within minutes. Is there any way to have screens put on the inside of the french doors? If so, what kind of person/company would do this? Thank you.

we want to pull up the ugly concrete in front of our brownstone in prospect heights and plant a few bushes (no trees). do we need landmarks approval for this?
