Excavation Rec?


We have a cellar and we want to put in a couple casement windows. It would involve going through some cement (a stairwell) and then through some earth – I don’t think it will involve the foundation. Any recommendations? It’s a relatively small job.

Property Insurance


Anyone know the impact of DOB code violations on property insurance claims? e.g., let’s say we have a deck (non-permitted, not built to code) that catches fire, damages house etc and we file a claim. Does the carrier reimburse or do they refuse citing illegal deck as rationale?
