Installing boiler closet/room – advice needed


We need to build a boiler room/closet to bring it up to code. Obviously we need submit plans to the city etc before we even start this. Does anyone know how we even start going about this. Do we call an architect, engineer, both? Thanks for your help.

Fire escape help


We are concerned that the fire escape on our pre-war building is coming away from the brick wall. It’s a 4-floor walk-up. This may be a stupid question – but should we be looking for a mason to fix this or someone who is more of a specialist? Does anyone have any recommendations for who could fix this for us?
