choosing an attic vent


I own a flat roofed row how that gets extremely hot in the summer. I have been advised to install attic vents on my roof. I am having trouble figuring out which product would be best: 1) a solar powered vent fan by Solatube that costs about $550 each 2) wind driven ventilator , which is about $100 each 3) or a solar/wind combination ventilator. My concern is that the solar-powered fan will only work during the day and when the sun goes down the attic will begin to heat up again. Any advice would be most helpful.

need advice- window replacement


We need to replace 7 windows in the front of our row house. My initial impulse was to put in new wood frame windows (interior and exterior wood. They look so much better than the aluminum cladding but I am concerned about the exterior wood rotting over time and the high maintenance. I would appreciate any advice.

Also, we were going to go with Marvin windows initially but Home Depot offers a window product called “Sequel” that seems comparable and is more affordable. Has anyone had any experience with Home Depot for windows?

how to pick pears from tree


We have a very large pear tree in our backyard with is now full of pears that need to be picked. Is there someone I can hire to do this? Frankly, I don’t know how one would get to the upper branches.
