Kitchen Cabinets


Anyone have a recommendation for contemporary style Kitchen Cabinets? We are waiting for a quote from HenryBuilt but given they have their showroom in SOHO we are expecting them to be expensive. We are dealing with a gut reno so have open free space and as such do not require custom cabinetry. Someone recommended Wood Mode but looking for others.

Metal Windows


We have metal windows in our home that were popular in the 50′s. I think they were orignally called hot rolled steel windows in the late 19th century but became galvanized steel in the 50′s. They are multi-paned awning/casement combinations with flat steel mullions about 3″ inches wide. Does anyone know a good steel window manufacturer who can replicate for use in other parts of the house?

Asbestos Roof Tile Removal


Any recommendations for a reasonable contractor to remove asbestos tiles from uour roof. We got a quote for $10K for a 50 x 21 roof which seems like a lot of money.

Tenant Vacancy and Rent Stabilization Statement


The DOB is asking for a notarized letter indicating our tenants have all moved out and that the building was never rent stabilized (both correct). I can easily draft something to this effect but was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and can recommend a “DOB friendly” format. Thanks

Backyard Building Codes


We are planning to excavate our currently tiered back garden to make it one level. This will require underpinning both neighbors gardens with a retaining wall and extending existing brick walls around the yard. We are essentially converting our back garden into a somehwat sunken walled garden. Is anyone aware of any building code restrictions etc pertaining to backyards walls and/or gardens(height, surfaces, etc)?
