Baseboard conversion for 6 mulitfamily unit
I’ve been doing some preliminary research on changing a few old cast iron steam heaters. I want to change some out to cast iron baseboards perhaps from Governale – Gov board or with the burnham baseray. I definitely need a experienced person for this but before wasting their time, is this possible and worthwhile? What’s the cost of changing three to four radiators to these. Currently they are a two pipe steam radiator system. Any feedback greatly appreciated. I definitely need to change at least one as the size is gigantic relative to the space and I plan on putting some kitchen cabinets or a bench on that area by the window. Most likely a bench above the radiator.
Can This Be Done on a Brownstone?
I’ve been wondering for a while how sports bars are able to create rooftop bars in NY. Do you need a permit for something like this for a brownstone? It’s just a few steel beams with retractable shades. I’d love to have something like this in my home. Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Experience with Roof Deck Tiles
Given the need to replace the roof about 1 every 15- 20 years, I was looking into roofdeck tiles as an inexpensive solution to having a deck while being able to dismantle and reassembly if needed at a later time. Does anyone have experience or input on them? I was looking into a few… here’s some links http://www.hardwoodhome.com/DeckingTiles.html http://www.tiletechpavers.com/
www.porcelanosa.com
I was told by porcelanosa that a silicone glue would be needed to be adhered to the roof and the raised floor pedestal and to the tile… so is it easily removable years later when I need to fix the roof? Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Sprinkler System Needed? New CO required?
I was wondering if I need to get a new CO or install a sprinkler system if I merge 2 apartments into 1 and move the occupancy or family dwelling of the lost dwelling unit to a legal basement instead. I was told this is easily done as the basement was at one time an existing apartment. Does it make a difference if the building is rent stabilized? The building was made in the 1930′s or 1940′s. Any feedback greatly appreciated – What to watch out for? cost? etc.
