Pressure Gauge on boiler

I had an annual boiler inspection done on my hot water boiler and the inspector (engaged by the boiler insurance co) said that my pressure gauge for the boiler needed to be replaced. He said that I currently have a 0 to 70 psi pressure gauge but I am required under NYC code to have a 0 to 100 psi gauge because it must be able to read two times the maximum allowable pressure of the boiler, which in my case is 50 psi. When I asked him where in the code/regulations this requirement appears, he could only say that it is based on his “schooling” and that he believes the requirement is in the NBIC (National Boiler Inspection Code) manual. I tried to look this up but couldn’t find the NBIC on line. Can anyone who has a copy of the NBIC or is knowledgeable of the code tell me if the inspector is right?

Knob and Tube Wiring

I’m buying an old house that has some knob and tube wiring. Some people have said it is bad news all around. Others have said that I must replace it ASAP. I’ve been told by my home inspector that it should be replaced but an electrician I spoke with said it should be OK right now, as long as the house hasn’t had insulation blown into the exterior walls. Any thoughts on experiences with replacing it now or waiting a while? Thanks for any advice.

Galvanized Plumbing

I am in the process of purchasing a home built in 1915 that still has its original galvanized plumbing for the water lines. My home inspector stated that there is a lot of corrosion on the exposed joints of the galvanized pipes, and clear signs of past leakage. He also said that the pipes are likely corroding on the inside as well, and that the galvanized pipes should be replaced in the near future. My question is how urgent is this matter? Should I be worried about major leakage problems?. Is the water coming out of these pipes unhealthy? Thank you in advance for any advice.
