New Radiators
Hi.
We have old cast iron radiators in multiple rooms in our apt. We are redoing our kitchen and want to get a new slim radiator bc it will take up less room and will match the new decor. Can anyone point me in a direction where I can find them? I’ve seen these new slimmer radiators around, they’re usually unpainted(?) but I haven’t had much luck finding them now. Thanks!
Floor wood splitting
ADVICE:
I purchased an apt in the fall. I had the floors refinished b/c the finish was worn away in spots, but the different planks and pieces of wood were mostly in excellent shape, and tightly fitted. In the past month, cracks have developed btwn different planks (see first two photos). (Third photo shows good section of floor, the way the messed up sections used to look too.) Since I wasn’t here last winter I can’t say if the same thing happened then due to wood contracting in winter, and then resolved itself in the spring. I’m freaking out that my floors are slowly becoming ruined, and that they didn’t look like this when I bought the place. Does anyone have any knowledge of what’s happening and if it might resolve itself, if it needs to be fixed, can it be fixed, how much will it cost, etc…
THANKS!!!

Interior Brownstone doors available
I have two doors that I no longer need due to renovations. One is a classic solid wood, paneled door. The other is a real gem – all beveled glass panels. They don’t make stuff like this today. The solid wood door is 86h x 26w. The one with glass is 86h x 30w. If you’re interested, make me an offer and one or both are yours. I’m not looking for a lot of money, just want them to go to a good home. With a glass plate on top either one would make a really cool table top or desktop too. I’m in Prospect Heights – 347 295-0422
Doors for sale
I have two interior doors from my brownstone that I’m getting rid of. What do you think is a fair price, and is anyone interested? They’re both 86″ high. One (pictured) has beveled glass panels, the other is solid wood with four panels.
Painting and Floor refinishing questions
I just purchased a 2BR in Prospect Heights. It has beautiful wood floors with fancy dark wood inlays around the edges. Overall they are in nice condition but the finish is worn away in a few locations. It’s my understanding that we’ll need to refinish the full floors b/c if we only do certain spots the work will never match and the floors won’t look uniform. 1) Is that probably the case? 2) I’ve gotten some price quotes for refinishing but the price varies from $1.50 p/s/f to $4 p/s/f. Since the apt is over 1200 sf that’s a wide range in final price. We’re willing to spend more if it means having them look great but we’d love to spend less of course if we can get the same results.
Also, we’re looking to paint the place. Some minor sanding and repair work is needed, but mainly just needs fresh paint. I know this is really green to ask, but around what would it cost for a high-end paint job on a 1200 sf apt?
