Gowanus Canal Tube


I was on the Carroll Street bridge yesterday and noticed, floating in the Gowanus Canal, something that wasn’t there last week.

It was a large black plastic tube, approximately 4 feet in diameter, and many meters long. It was hooked up to some sort of contraption. (Unfortunatley, I can’t describe any detail, as I took insufficient mental notes.)

The large black tube was clearly set up to do something, but I’m not sure what.

Does anyone know what this large black tube is?

En Suite bathroom


Are en suite bathrooms a good thing or a bad thing?

They seem kind of silly to me. But they seem to be touted by some.

The irascible Rob the Butterfly (“Don’t poop where you sleep!”) and the gallant DaveinBedStuy (“Oh, the luxury of pooping where you sleep!”) — two enjoyable favorites on this site — are forever battling this point, sometimes playfully, sometimes distractingly.

But what do others think?

Perhaps all of us together can settle this point once and for all.
