Water Heater Problem
For some reason the pilot light on my water heater keeps going out. It happened sometime late Wed night or early Thu morning. Last night when I got home from work I went down to check and and noticed it was out. I managed to relight it no problem. Then this morning I didn’t have hot water again. I went back down and had to relight it again. This time I took about 4 tries before it stayed lit. Any plumber here have any idea what may be causing it to keep going out? It’s relatively new (about 1 year old). I’m not sure if there’s a problem with the gas line going into the water heater or the water heater itself. I’m going to assume it’s the water heater since none of my neighbors in my building seem to be having a problem with theirs.
A/C Died this Morning
My HVAC system seems to have died this morning. The thermostat will click on but the circulation fan will not come on. It sounds like it’s pumping coolant from the roof OK and the pipe that supplies the coolant is cold but for whatever reason the blower won’t come on.
Any recommendations of people to call? I’m hoping I can get someone out today as it’s incredibly humid and hot out.
Storage Rules?
There’s been some discussion at my condo about storage space in the basement of our building. Does anyone know what can and can’t be used for space to store things (ie bikes and things like that)? I’ve heard that if it is a utility room it can’t be used at all. Unfortunately our basement is a series of 3 rooms one containing hot water heaters, one with gas meters and one for electric meters and Verizon phone lines. Would the size of the room change that or do we really have no option.
Washer Dryer Hook Up
I have a washer/dryer hook up in my new place. It’s new construction so there hasn’t been one hooked up before. Here’s my problem, while the water lines are in the wall (as they should be) the only drain in the utility closet is the one in the floor of the floor. If a washer was installed, it would be sitting on top of this drain pretty much. So my question is, what has to be done to fix this so that a washer will drain properly? Does anyone else have a similar hook up in their places? Is this a complicated job or something simple to fix?
Closing on a Property
I’m a first time buying and I’m schedule to close on my condo tomorrow. I still haven’t gotten the final list of costs from my lawyer yet. Is that kind of normal to have everything at the last minute? Also, how long does a closing usually last?
New construction condo buys?
I’ve been looking for the better part of a year to buy my first place. I’ve mainly been looking at studios since that’s what’s available in my price range. I’ve noticed some new construction condos lowering into my price range (and no I’m not talking about anything in DoBro). Has anyone here bought into a new construction build? Do they have any advice about the process? I’ve seen places sit on the market for a while and I’m wondering how much lower I could get from asking. Any advice would be great.
