Renting out our house


I’m wondering if anyone has any insight about renting out a house. We have a 3 bedroom single family in Windsor Terrace. Renovated, nicely furnished.

We are thinking about going overseas for 2 years and I’m pondering renting it out vs selling.

Anyone ever rent or rent out a house? What’s the best way to do it? What about upkeep etc? Furnishings?

Any thoughts or comments on your own experience would be helpful.

Exterior Painting this Week?


I need find someone to do a small exterior painting job. Think the weather is still ok to do that or will I have to wait till spring?

“Trip Charge” from Service Provider


Anyone ever get a surprise “trip charge” when a company comes out to do some work in your home?

We had a plumbing & heating company come to do regular maintenance on our boiler and I was quoted $225 before they came out, but the total came to $244 because of a $19 “trip charge” they added on. I spoke to the company and they said they add it on to every job. Shouldn’t they have quoted me $244? Or were they expecting me to bring my boiler in to their office for maintenance?

Am I right to be super annoyed at that or am I making too much over $19?

I have a 40+ year old boiler in my single family home. I need a plumber to get it ready for the winter season. I haven’t been thrilled with who I’ve used the past few years. Anyone have a rec?

Need exterior/brick/leak repair


We’ve got some minor cracks in our brickwork in an exterior wall that has allowed some water seepage and created a mold problem in our basement. Before we clean up the mold we need someone to repair the leaks. Does anyone have a recommendation for a company to do that? It’s a small job but we really need an expert to do it right so we don’t have a repeat of the problem.
