Neighbors Reconstruction
Was hoping to get some advice on what to do about the following:
We rent in a garden apartment in a brownstone and the brownstone to the right of us is doing major construction. They have scaffolding up and are in the process of removing all the surface from the structure.
Our steps, front garden and entrance are covered in silt which is growing every day – when this happened in the past our plants died and our apartment was full of dust and we had to have all our furniture cleaned. We can no longer open our front windows. Today my husband was almost hit with a rock that came down from 5 flights up. As I left this morning I noticed these rocks were all over the street.
The only number displayed is for the scaffolding company there is no other number for those who are actually doing the construction.
So my question is this – what should we and what can we do? I am going to contact the owners of the building tonight but I have a distinct feeling that these things are happening because they just dont care. They are sort of special you see.
Any advice would greatly be appreciated – oh and I have already notified our landlord who lives a few houses down. I can’t wait for the folks with their fancy cars to find the dings.
How to attract bats
Does anyone keep, have, house or try to make things bat friendly for their outdoor spaces? Our garden was rendered unusable last year in the summer because of mosquitos – the mosquitos in Carroll Gardnes are striped and actually come out in the day – I heard that some people put bat houses up to try to control this – is this crazy? If its as simple as putting a bat house up I need to know – if its like keeping a goat in yourback yard then that won’t do-much obliged.
Have you seen any acorns?
Has any one else noticed that there are no acorns? We live in Carroll Gardens and I remember last fall you would get pelted with an acorn when you walked near certian trees and you would hear them patter as they hit parked cars all day. And I just came a across an AP article sounding the alarm. Has anyone seen any acorns in Brooklyn? I haven’t. And we now have a squirrel issue where they are burrowing in a hole in a deck and eating through drywall. Poor things are starved.
