Plz advise on contractor for rangehood & duct install

Looking for a recommendation for a contractor who can remove an old kitchen hood, install ducting, and install the new hood.

Our old hood finally bit the dust, it was ventless but we want to replace it with one that’s ducted to the outside. The guy from Futuro Futuro range hood store where we got the new hood explained that it’s much better to duct it outside, which will clear the air in the whole kitchen.

Problem is, the old hood was ductless so I need the contractor to add the ductwork as well as swap out the hoods. Do I need to get a separate contractor for the appliances and the ducting, or are there ones that will do both? And who would you recommend (NYC local)?

Bosch stainless steel dishwasher – $75

I have a ten year old Bosch SHU 6800 series dishwasher that will be uninstalled tomorrow. Until a week ago, it worked really well–relatively quiet, cleaned great, multiple functions, delay start, yada-yada-yada. The computer went a little nuts suddenly, though, and we had A-Z Best Appliance out to repair it. They said it needs a new computer, which they had in stock and would put in for $350. We were on the fence about whether to put the money in or get a new one, and we decided to go for a new one with a warranty, etc, rather than repair the old. Not sure if it was the right move.. but anyway. I think this thing is certainly worth the money to fix for someone looking to get a fancy dishwasher without breaking the bank. It cost around $1000 new. Yours for $75 if you pick it up from me in Prospect Heights asap. As is, obviously. (It looks great, though it has a very small dent near the bottom.) prospectheightsguestapt@gmail.com

Do I need a repairman to clean stove burners?

Sorry if this is an embarrassingly dumb question. I haven’t bothered with one non-working gas burner on my stove, but I recently have a problem with baking soda spilling on another one and hardening there. I thought wetting it would get it off, but it didn’t. I’m worrying slightly about gas seeping through but not fully lighting when the burner is on. Do I have to spend all that money on an appliance repair guy to clean it? If so, recommendations are welcome.

Anyone have a newer Viking dishwasher?

I’m considering a Viking dishwasher, but hoping to find some reviews first. Apparently they started making their own last year (after years of them being made by Asko with terrible reviews), and the specs make it look like a magic machine–supposedly ultra-quiet, no rinsing or scraping (b/c of a built-in disposal), great performance, energy efficient. But for a high price-tag, of course. Would appreciate reviews if anyone has them. Kind of sounds like a hardworking Kitchen Aid meets fancy Miele… Snarky comments, not required. Thx.

Best way to sell appliances, etc.

Where do folks recommend listing these used appliances and lights to sell? Here, craigslist, ??

So far we’ve got a dishwasher (GE Monogram that our oddly shaped dishes don’t fit in) and several light fixtures, some newish, some possibly very old (fitting for old brownstones).

Washing Machine for 2nd floor

I have a laundry room on the second floor of my brownstone. The washing machine jumps and vibrates so badly that it finally has died. Does anybody have a good suggestion for a new model to buy? Looking for a top loader if possible but open to anything that will work well on a upper floor. Thanks!

Cooktop and oven

I m looking for a gas cooktop and under-counter electric oven.
I saw many posts suggesting Viking products. Does anyone know any other good brands and not so expensive?
I am ok spending 2000-2500 for both.
Thanks

Good Place to Buy Appliances Based on Price/Delivery?

Looking to buy Bosch Axxis washer/dryer combo in the coming weeks and wondered if people had preferred places to purchase? I’m moving into a walkup so I need full delivery and install services. Any recommendations would be welcome.

I’m thinking of Lowe’s because I got the standard 10% moving coupon and I can purchase a tax refund gift card which would give me a 10% bonus. The combined savings I think would be hard to beat but I wanted to see what others thought.
