Wanted: Brooklyn Knowledge – Filming Location Needed ASAP

Howdy all, and Happy Blizzard:

I am a fellow Brooklyn resident and Brownstoner fan interested in what your thoughts are on a filming location I’m seeking out.

The producers are seeking out a warm, academic feeling, woody, library-ish room with classic archways/doors. The room could have old school features, drawers, books etc.

I’m thinking about these possibilities:

Plymouth Church of the PIlgrims
Pratt
St Joeseph
Montauk Club
Masonic Temple
Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture
Union Hall bar
Brooklyn Law?
Packer Institute

We cannot use the Bklyn Historical Society as they have shot there recently.

Does anyone have any thoughts and or insight into some little known or more mainstream locations that we missed?

Regards,

David

IT’S ALMOST PARTY TIME!

(think Jingle Bells, folks!)

Dashing through Brooklyn
Taking pictures all around
Writing up stories
Keeping his ear to the ground
Watching real estate
Hating shiny floors too bright
What fun it is to hate kitchens
That simply don’t look right!

Oh, Brownstoner, Brownstoner
How we love this site
It provides a distraction
Through the day and the night, hey!
Brownstoner, Brownstoner
How we love this site
It provides a distraction
Through the day and the night.

A party at Loki
We’ll have a merry time
Situated in Park Slope
You know location’s prime
Gifts for RHCC
Gifts for the ‘Stoners too
It’s feels so good to give a gift
And also get one too!

Oh, CobbleSnaps, CobbleSnaps
Parties are our thing
Hope you enjoy all the fun

PARTY PARTY PARTY!!!

Twas the night before Christmas and over on Brownstoner
No creatures were stirring; no renters, no owners
Marketplace listings presented with care
In hopes that a buyer soon would be there

Preservationists cry before a hideous fedders
Dave in the OT watching stocks with the bettors
Emily at her computer, Mr. B at the helm
For sale in the forum, shelves by West Elm!

In the House of the Day arose such a clatter
We dashed to that thread to see what was the matter
BHO was predicting such gloom
“You’ve seen the last of this housing boom!”

In the BOTD, everyone knows
That Montrose Morris will provide great prose
Whoa….what to my wondering eyes did appear?
The Loki Lounge with both wine and beer!

A party thrown by two lively ladies
Who arrive on the bus, not a Mercedes
With cookies and glitter far as the eye can see
And toys to donate to the RHCC

Come Emily, Come Jon, Biff Champion, we call!
Minard and Ringo, we’re expecting you all!
Please join the party, it’s fun, we swear!
It’s time to dress up and do your hair!

Bring a great toy to donate to the kids
And just be very thankful you’re not on the skids!
Don’t forget the grab bag gift, too
If you don’t comply, we’ll surely boo-hoo!

We’ll see you all on the 9th of December
Put it in your calendar, so you’ll remember
We’ll party and laugh, with nary a brawl
COBBLESNAPS WISHES HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

HOLIDAY PARTY/CHARITY BASH!

On the 9th day of December Brownstoner gave to me
Twelve Bars with babies
Eleven AY drawings
Ten nimbies kvetching
Nine missing widgets
Eight CG curb cuts
Seven Vox Pop bailouts
Six baristas quitting
FIVE LAAAAAAAPS IN NORAAAH’S POOOOOOL!!!
Four What bannings
Three silly gifts
Two Stiff drinks
And a chance to give to the needy :-)

Sooo, what are you doing on the evening of December 9th? You already have plans? WELL CANCEL THEM!!!

Join the Brownstoner posters for our Second Annual Holiday Party on December 9th from 6pm until we drop. This year we will be taking our merry little selves to Loki Bar & Lounge, located at 304 5th Avenue at the corner of 2nd Street in Park Slope.

Last year we exchanged silly dollar store gifts and guess what??? We are doing it again! So get to the nearest dollar store and buy one gift – the silliest, craziest, most useless thing you can get your hands on! – wrap it or put it in a small gift bag and bring it to the party! Our Second Annual Goofy Gift Grab-bag will not disappoint!

This year we are also doing our best to give to local needy residents. It’s time to give back to the community that we love so much. This year, CobbleSnaps Productions asks that each party attendee bring a gift to donate to the Red Hook Community Center holiday toy drive. We need toys for young kids all the way up to teenagers. We also need donations of new blankets for the seniors. PLEASE DO NOT WRAP THE GIFTS! Leave them in their original packaging, but no wrapping. If you wish to put it in a gift bag that’s fine. Also, if you purchase a gift that runs on batteries, please supply the batteries to go with the toy. Please find it in your hearts (and wallets!) to give a gift to those in need this season. If you can’t stay to attend the party, please consider stopping by Loki to drop off a gift for the RHCC. We will gather up all the gifts and take them to the Red Hook Community Center and make the donation in the name of Brownstoner.com and the Brownstoner.com readers.
We look forward to seeing familiar faces and new posters. We also look forward to getting a great stash of gifts to donate to the RHCC. Come join in the fun!

Loki Bar and Lounge is located at 304 5th Avenue (at the corner of 2nd Street) in Park Slope. Take the M or R train to Union Street or the B63 bus to 5th Avenue and 3rd Street. http://tinyurl.com/y8vo5zx

Holiday Party!

Hello everybodeeeeee! It’s about that time again! The Brownstoners will be throwing a swinging holiday party on December 9th, so save the date in your calendars! We haven’t firmed up the location just yet, so stay tuned for more information.

Remember last year when we exchanged silly dollar store gifts? Well, we’re doing it again…HOORAY! Get back to the dollar store and find one ridiculous item, wrap it or put it in a small gift bag and bring it to the party for the 2nd Annual Brownstoner Readers’ Goofy Gift Grab-bag. Please don’t spend more than a dollar on the gift (excluding tax of course).

Also, on a more serious note, the holiday season is known as a time of giving. For all the hardships we experience, we must remember that there are plenty of people in our own community who struggle in a way we may not be able to comprehend. Please find it in your hearts (and wallets!) to give a gift to those in need this season.

This is an official CobbleSnaps Production. All rights reserved and enforced by cats with super sharp claws.

TWO Missing Cats. Please Keep Your Eyes Out

hi everyone,

My husband and I returned from vacation and somehow our 2 cats Biscuit and Doodle managed to get out while a friend was staying at our house with them and our 2 dogs. They are brother and sister/1 yr old/spayed/neut/no tags or collars/very sweet but shy and have NEVER been outside before or even gone near the doors or windows when we’ve been home.

Doodle, female, is an orange, black and white calico with a large white patch on her neck/chin and white paws. Biscuit is light gray/brown with darker gray stripes and a belly that hangs low to the ground and swings from side to side when he runs.

They are about 10-12 lbs and must be scared to death. They will probably run if approached but the ARE FRIENDLY! They were last seen on 9/8 around 29th and Poplar. We don’t think they have gone far and friends and neighbors have been searching the area. I have created a public photo album on FB for people to share to getter a better look at their pics. If you are in the area, please take a look and share. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2082016&id=1526493615&l=4b7ed3bb28.

A jpg of the flier can be found at http://brindleboysdesign.com/MISSING.jpg to print, just save the image to your desktop.

The more people keeping an eye out the better! There are tons of amazing people in this neighborhood and I’m confident we will get these guys back with everyone’s help.

Please contact me if you see or hear ANYTHING. My info is on the flyer.

Thanks so much!
Nicole

Excellent Housekeeper

Hi,

I just wanted to put out a recommendation for my excellent housekeeper, Monica, in case anyone is looking for extra help around the house.

She has worked with me for several years and is sweet, trustworthy, and does a great job – she always goes the extra mile (removing all silverware and cleaning out drawers, changing the sheets, moving all my son’s copious toys to get at the dust bunnies). She is easy to communicate with and extremely dependable.

Monica has also babysat for me, and I know that she takes care of dogs for her other clients and can also help with parties and events in your home (setting tables, cleaning up, etc).

Several people have contacted her from a recommendation that I made in another forum post and I know that they have been happy with her work.

If you’re in need of some help around the house (and who isn’t?) please get in touch with me at mcrooster at gmail.com or directly with her at monikaemy22560 at yahoo.com.

Thanks!
