Wood Countertop
I rent an apartment with a lovely looking but delicate wood countertop in the kitchen. The wood’s stained dark and covered with what I assume is polyurethane gloss. In most places, the gloss is thick, but in the spot where we cook the most, it’s started to wear through and loose bits of the stain (plain wood exposed).
Would it be possible to touch up the polyurethane without redoing the whole thing? I assume I could just buy some polyurethane furniture varnish and apply it to the area (after cleaning/sanding it). But would that work?
Of course, I won’t do this without mentioning it to our landlord! Maybe he’ll do it himself.
