i was just taking photos of the sunset at 52nd st and the water (lovely). There is a pier there that was unlocked, and a man was wandering around on it. He informed me that this was all “private land” owned by the sanitation department, and that I was not allowed on it. I was actually standing on a public road. This man, who looked in his early 50s and who, presumably, worked for the sanitation department, was wearing a very clean leisure suit and sunglasses. I was a little surprised that the sanitation department employed guys like this who were sort of working on Sunday afternoon making sure that no one was taking photos of sanitation department property. Anyone else had similar anecdotal experiences? Like, still, in 2009?
