I’ve stripped the paint from the interior window frame and radiator frame/cover in my kitchen, and would like to keep it paint-free, but removing the oxidation has proved extremely difficult. Sanding works, but it’s rough going and very time-consuming.

Has anyone had any success with removing the oxidation from metal frames?

Also, any thoughts on what to use to coat the frames? I’m assuming that polyurethane is the answer, but I’m worried about yellowing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
