I’m the owner of an old frame row-house in Sunset Park (not brick or brownstone). The house is in good repair, in a decent part of town, and I’ve never made an insurance claim since buying it in 2000. But this year I’m having huge difficulty getting homeowner’s insurance, after my previous insurer refused to renew due to “global warming” or some such BS. Other insurers say they don’t want to cover homes built before 1980! Or they try to charge me extra for a 3-family house when mine is a (government-acknowledged) 2-family house. Is anyone else having trouble getting insurance this year? Can anyone recommend a company with a friendlier attitude to Sunset Park and its old homes? I’m starting to feel somewhat desperate!
