Newbie

Hi,
I’m brand new to Brownstoner.

A co-worker advised that this site was a great resource for tips about most things in Brooklyn.

I’ve been in Brooklyn about 2 years, but in the last week I’ve acquired a cat, a car, and moved into a new apartment in a neighborhood I’m very unfamiliar with. I’ve been petless and carless for the last couple years.

I’m in the Kensington neighborhood now. So far, I love it. Can anyone recommend a tried and true great veterinarian? The same for a auto mechanic? I am willing to travel out of the neighborhood and I am more concerned about professionalism and high standards of service and integrity than I am rates.

I also need to purchase window coverings for two of my windows, and finding a good barber isn’t a bad idea either. Since neither health or large expense is involved in finding a good barber, that is less risky to discover on a trial and error basis. Hair usually grows back (so far so good anyway).

I’d appreciate good advice.
