We live in a 3 story frame house and have AC window units on the 2nd and 3rd floors. We’ve never had AC on the first floor, but after suffering for 5 years – we’re looking at options and would appreciate any advice . . .

The first floor is 1/2 underground and the only 2 windows (1 in front and one in back) are not window unit friendly.

We have been pricing out Mr. Slim installations – very expensive and few calls back from installers.

And we are also considering replacing the front window (or cutting a hole) so we could have a freestanding AC unit that vents out the front.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Mr. Slim referrals? Window referrals?

We’re planning/saving to do major work in a couple of years and would rather do a semi cheap and cheerful solution so we can do it properly in the future
