Replaced old brownstone windows with new Kolbe ones, but they didn’t come with handles. I’m used to a bar that runs across the entire window, but I’m guessing it’s because I’m not used to old windows

The installer recommended ones that look the like the attached picture. Are there any other historical options for opening windows? Especially since we will want to open our windows from both the top and the bottom, and having handles on both the top and bottom feels like it would look a little silly.
