I am considering a move out to victorian flatbush this summer (i would be renting, not buying). I haven’t been out there since 2005 but love the nabe. one of these days I want to revisit to see the changes. I heard that Cortelyou Rd is the new shopping/dining strip, and totally on the up. is this correct? what other commercial areas I should check out when i’m there?

Also, i am really only interested in renting an apt in someone’s private house. I have scoured craigslist just to get an idea of pricing, and have come across zero apartments in private homes….only in big apartment houses. Is this apt type very hard to come by in that area (i.e., are ALL those big houses really single family?) craigslist is getting me nowhere; is there another resource where I can search for this apt type in the nabe?
