interior window shutters
We live in bronstone’s first floor for 2 months. Our front windows overlook street and we need to put some sort of screens in place. Current idea is to get interior window shutters. I am thinking about double bi-fold wooden shutters, which will cover the bottom half of the window.
So a few questions:
- does this configuration have some outright problems, I should be aware of?
- should I order something with light wood or dark wood?
- I consider half window, dual bi-fold shutters on each of 68×28″ window. It makes shutter panel 34×7″, which is pretty small and I think it should have very thin lourves (1″ or thinner). Do we still want rotating lourves or we can get shutters with fixed angle lourves?
Is there any other atractive alternatives. I saw several houses, where owner put stained glass panel in the center of the window (the panel covers ~50% of the area). Is it something to consider as well?
Sounds like a lot of brownstoners should face the same problem and have a lot of experience in this area.
thank for your ideas.
