After a freeze: rusty water
Wondering if I have a small problem, or a soon to be looming large problem.
A few weeks ago when we had those nasty freezing temps, a water pipe froze up overnight: it was the cold water pipe to my kitchen sink. Luckily it didn’t burst, we must have just caught it in time and warmed up the house. Once the water was running again, it was kicking out some rusty water. Now, weeks later it will still occasionally squirt out some lovely rust water.
And some history as it seems relevant: when we first bought the house and were doing some minor fixups, contractor noticed a very slow drip in the same pipe and fixed it. We had some spotty rust water at the time but it cleared up after that fix.
So did the freeze, while not bursting a pipe, perhaps open up that leak again and that’s why we have some rust? I can’t access this pipe visually but I have listened for any sounds of drip and have not heard anything.
So, little problem or potential big problem?
