C of O status change
I am looking into buying a 3-story Brownstone in Clinton Hill that is currently registered with the City as a 2-family but doesn’t actually have a Certificate of Occupancy. I am considering either leaving it as a 2-family or filing to get it changed to a 3-family. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do you know how much getting a C of O costs (I assume it is a necessity–right?); how much would it be to leave it as a 2-family and what–including costs–would be involved in getting it changed to a 3-family dwelling?
