Hey Guys-

We are dealing with the renovation disaster. Basically we have built an addition to the Brownstone in our garden (all legal permits etc.)
In the October, when the heating season kicked in – the radiator pipe inside the wall started leaking and eventually our new floor got all swallen and destroyed.
We have called the contractor and he claimed the responsibility. However after removing 340sq. ft of the floor (nice expensive 4.5″ wide planks) and the under layer of plywood he claimed that he run out of money and cannot complete the job.
Now, here is my question: its been 2.5 weeks and we are in limbo – we do have a homowner insurance and are desparate to use it since there is no response from the contractor (i believe he will only get worse from now on – eventually bancrupt) what should we do? any advise? I hope to be done before holidays… its been quite a nightmare so far… Help!!!
