Washington Mutual Closing
We are about to close on a condo purchase in Brooklyn with Washington Mutual. Washington Mutual seems to be using a company called Settcorp instead of hiring an actual attorney to represent them at the closing. Settcorp is telling me that they do this all the time and that Washington Mutual uses them for all their closings in NYC. My concern is that at the last minute, someone at WaMu will decide that they do in fact need a lawyer and that the closing will get delayed as a result. Has anyone had any experience in closing a purchase with Washington Mutual and, in particular, having Settcorp represent them instead of real lawyers. Did it go smoothly or was it a mess?
