Hardwood floor recomendation

We are gutting our house and will be putting in all new floors. Can anyone recommend a type of wood? We were looking at bamboo, but have since decided against it, so now we need to start over! Our house will be very modern/urban…not over the top modern, but modern enough. We really want a cool looking floor too!
