I’ve recently gone into contract on a 3-family brownstone and am looking to do some minor renovations. One annoying issue is that the previous owner replaced every door, and the original knobs must have been at different heights than the doorway settings. What they did to get around this was to create new holes in the doors about 2 inches higher and moved the knobs there to match the height of the frame, then plugged in the old holes in the doors. (I wish I was kidding about this.) What’s worse is that one of the doors is actually not even wide enough to reach all the way to the wall! (it’s about 1/4″ short)
Any recommendations on where to get decent replacement doors? I plan on staying in the home for a while, so I’d like the doors to be of good quality.
