Creepy unoccupied house on Garfield?

Does anyone know the tale behind the house at (I think) 174 Garfield Place between 5th and 6th aves? The windows and doors are concrete-d over. The front yard is torn up. There is a sign on the front that says “Mark Construction.” We like to walk by and pretend its haunted. Please share the real tale (or make one up!)
