After a few basement floods of late, had a plumber come and instead of adding a drain and tieing to the main drain (under an extension) suggested concreting the part of my back yard closest to the house, and grading it away from the house. Currently it’s blue stone that’s old, cracked and prone to puddles in bad rain. The basement flooding is directly below back yard so seemed to make sense to me. Aesthetically, could make it work.

Anyone know someone decent that does (what sounds like) simple concrete stuff like this? Not a ton of names in the archives.

Thanks,

John

  1. I was told the same thing by another contractor. my basement floods whenever there is heavy rain and my concrete is directed towards the foudation. I have no doubt that grading the concrete away from the house will fix the flooding

  2. If you are going to get rid of youe stone I could really use it and would be glad to haul it away. I can also ask my contractor for a recomendation on who best to do your slab. You can reach me at dogheart7 at macconnect.com (replace at with @)
