I saw the post below about the basement flood and was wondering about expanding the discussion. I just bought my brownstone (two weeks ago!!) so not only am I a bit overwhelmed right now but also I am a complete neophyte about this stuff, so I appreciate any advice.

My basement too had water, but in three different places:
1. along the side of the wall that adjoins the neighboring property.
2. along the wall next to the boiler room, which is located in the midde of the basement.
3. in the front of the basement, near the hatch.

It strikes me that this may mean that there are three different things going on. Any thoughts?

Also, how urgent is getting this looked at? And who do I call? And how much does stuff like this cost?
