Brooklyn Home Insurance During Renovation
Am looking at a few astronomical home insurance quotes from Chubb and Travelers for our 2 family cobble hill townhouse. We have not yet closed, but are looking to do that next month and then begin a gut renovation of the top 2 floors as well as adding a small roof addition immediately after. My question is this: what are the essentials that we should make sure are in our policy when we are in renovation and when we are finished? There are lots of things that effect the rate, but if anyone has the best bottom line advise I would appreciate any guidance. Also, what if any are factors that we can take into account now that others have incorporated into their renovations that helped reduce their rates? I am getting quotes of 6,000 a year and up with a 5,000 deductible NOT during renovation, and much higher than that with a 10K deductible during renovation!
