Brick stoop — aesthetic dilemma
We have a choice to make about our stoop. The house is wood frame with a front porch on the parlor level, hardiplank slats for siding, lots of white wood trim. Stoop is red brick, and in pretty bad shape. The stoop is framed on each side by a low brick border sloped like a handrail only much lower, with iron raise set into the sloping bricks. Many steps are uneven, and lots of mortar is missing.
We have two choices. We could either bust up the stoop and reset the bricks evenly, or we could just cover each step with a gray stone slab. Assume same cost either way (labor by contractor, not us). What would you choose?
