my oil company overfilled my tanks causing a rupture in a fuel line which caused oil to spew out into my basement. NYFD (they were terrific) and hazmat people and the dtate DEC responded. it was determined to be the fault of the oil company.
i need to know what clean -up i should demand from the oil company’s insurer. my house dand clothing smells like oil, my basement floor and part of the walls were covered with oil, and i lost a lot of stuff to the goo. also i do not have hot water since i have a gas hot water heater (which NYFD turned off) and i am afraid to use it with the fumes.
my questions:
1. can anyone recommend a good removal/restoration company with hazmat capabilities?
2. is there an independant adjuster/inspector who can let me know if the restoration work is proper
3. what agency or individual can i complain to if the oil company does not properly correct the damage?
4. is there anything which can remove the smell of fuel oil?
