We bought Brownstone, but we got tenants!!!



my husband and i bought our dream brownstone in brooklyn, we were told there was a tenant in place. it is a 3 family, but now after we sign contract and pay downpayment we find 3 family living there!
what can we do! we thought we have only 1 tenant! now we find 3 tenant so all building full! and we have no place to live in the building!
our lawyer say we should have ask more information, but what can we do??

Cost of Gas and Electric to be turned on?


Buying house with previous negligent owner.
The gas and electric were turned off by the utility companies….what would it cost to re-instate gas and electric services?

fresh air vent .recommendations?


i just had a new boiler put in my building in brooklyn,i found out i now need a fresh air intake vent for the boiler room. i have had the hardest time finding companies to call back and the ones that do crazy estimates $4600-$7000. does anyone recommend a particular company .

PAINTING TILE


Hey everyone:
I know this sounds wacky, but is it possible to paint over tile? The tile in my bathroom is great not chipped or cracked and the grout is in god condition – I just dont like the color. I am really trying to cut costs, and I want to know if this is feasible or not.

Bed Stuy Safe for single woman?


hi – single woman here looking to buy in bed stuy. i am unfamiliar with the neighborhood and want some feedback on areas where you would say a woman is safe to live alone. Should I aim for near some subway stops and not others? (I don’t have a car) I do come home late every so often and would be walking alone. I’d really appreciate street names, specific blocks, etc. if you’d be so kind to recommend them.

Seller’s Concession


I need an opinion on my situation. I’m in the process of buying a house, contracts are signed, and the appraisal is tomorrow. I talked to my mortgage broker and he mentioned he can include the closing costs in the mortgage, but the contract has to reflect seller’s concession and of course the appraisel has to be good.
My worry is that everything is already signed.Is it common to ammend the contract at this phase? What is the disadvantage to the sellers, woudl they have a problem?Thanks.
