I have some outlets in my basement and I’m wondering if they might be too powerful? I recently bought a dehumdifier and plugged it in. It mysteriously stopped working five minutes later – and never would run afterwards – in any outlet.
Then I plugged my ShopVac into the same outlet – and it started to smell like it was smoking/burning the engine.
Is it possible there’s something a little too “hot” in this outlet, or is this just coincidence? At this point I’m afraid to plug anything into it! How would I go about testing it/fixing this possibly unruly electrical box?
