Painting steam radiators

I’m about to paint my 1-pipe steam radiators, and wonder whether the color affects the heating capacity. Web searches give contradictory advice (black is best, white is best, non-relective is better than aluminum etc). I know that black-body absorbs best, but does it hold for heat radiation?
Thanks, any advice or thoughts welcome before I confront the resident aesthete (my wife).
